EUBAM Rafah, in close cooperation with the General Administration of Borders and Crossings (GABC), facilitated a two-day training held by the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) on the role of GABC in encountering the specter of corruption.
The training aimed at preparing Palestinian officers operating at the crossings to identify the different forms of corruption and to handle corruption cases according to the procedures adopted by GABC.
The training that took place at GABC Training Center in Jericho targeted 28 participants and covered a wide range of topics including an introduction to the definition and kinds of corruption, risks of corruption at GABC and the Palestinian National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Rafiq Natsheh, the Head of PACC, as well as Mr. Nazmi Mhanna, the Head of GABC, praised the efforts of the Palestinian security agencies working under the umbrella of GABC in fighting fraud and corruption.
In his turn, Mr. Guenther Freisleben, the Head of Mission, thanked the participants for their active participation and dedication and stressed on the importance of similar trainings in developing the effectiveness and operational capacity of GABC.
