From 23 to 25 May 2017, 19 participants from different administrations of the General Administration for Border and Crossings (GABC) attended a second TAIEX training, on IPR and ‘Fight against Counterfeiting’, funded by the ‘Technical Assistance and Information Exchange’ program (TAIEX) in collaboration with EUBAM Mission.
The training held in the newly rehabilitated training center of GABC at Al-Karamah terminal in Jericho was conducted by experts from the Italian Customs and Monopoly Agency. The aim of the training was to enhance the capacity of GABC staff in tackling the phenomenon of counterfeiting, while managing international borders, including Rafah Border Crossing Point when the political and security situation allows for the redeployment. The training also delivered a comprehensive and specific presentation of the current mechanisms within and across the EU in order to fight counterfeiting, while providing participants with an explanation of the legal framework and of practical cases.
