In its efforts to increase the capacities of the General Administration for Border and Crossings (GABC), the Mission conducted a three day ‘train-the-trainer’ course for Palestinian border officers.
EUBAM Rafah in collaboration with a training consultant from Sweden organized a ‘train-the-trainer’ course in late June. The training targeted 12 border officers and aimed at developing their theoretical and practical training skills in order to improve the operational capacity of GABC. The course focused on enhancing GABC trainers’ capacities in planning, designing, delivering as well as evaluating training activities.
Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to plan and deliver trainings by identifying and analyzing training needs, establishing training objectives, selecting the most effective training methods, planning courses, preparing training materials, delivering tailored training sessions and conducting evaluations on a scientific basis. The course participants will constitute a pool of trainers within GABC and will be responsible for delivering the required trainings to their colleagues.
The consultant used a participatory approach, such as role play, involving all the attendees in practical exercises, showing the best practices used in the field.
