Four EUBAM mission members were awarded the CMPD Medal for having met the eligibility requirements and the necessary period of qualifying service in one of the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Missions.
In a joyous event, held by EUBAM Rafah and attended by the EU Civilian Operations Commander Vincenzo Coppola and the Head of the Operations Division at CPCC Jean Marc Pisani, the General Director of the General Administration for Borders and Crossings Governor Nazmi Mhanna, Head of Mission EUBAM Guenther Freisleben, Mission members and representatives of the EU community, the efforts of four members of the Mission were recognized.
The ceremony started with a short reception followed by a number of speeches delivered by HoM EUBAM Guenther Freisleben, CivOpsCdr Vincenzo Coppola and GD GABC Governor Nazmi Mhanna. In their words, HoM EUBAM and CivOpsCdr appreciated the achievements and efforts made by the Mission and its members and thanked all team members for their commitment and dedication despite the ongoing challenges, while GD GABC thanked the EU and EUBAM Rafah for the continuous support in the field of capacity building of GABC and highlighted a number of joint success stories. Governor Mhanna conveyed a message of support and thankfulness by the Palestinian Authority represented by H.E Mahmoud Abbas for growing role played by the EU in the region amidst all political and security developments.
