On 12.12.2019, the Head of the European Union Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point Mr. Guenther Freisleben and the General Director of the General Administration for Borders and Crossings Governor Nazmi Mhanna signed the donation agreement for the newly constructed command and control center.
The idea behind the Command and Control Center came from the need for solid cooperation between the different border and security agencies operating under the umbrella of the General Administration for Borders and Crossings. It is foreseen that representatives of the mentioned organizations will come together as part of a comprehensive plan towards the implementation of the Integrated Border Management concept.
In its early stages, the CCC is expected to cover the operations at Al-Karamah Crossing with the aim of expanding its scope to cover all activities on other Palestinian border crossings in the future.
8 GABC representatives visited the Command and Control Center at Madrid Barajas Airport for an understanding of the concept and function of similar centers.
