EUBAM’s Head of Mission attended the Conference together with top management of the Palestinian Authority’s General Administration for Border and Crossings, the main Mission counterpart in Palestine.
The Conference, held in Warsaw and organized by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency – FRONTEX, brought together chief executives from different border and coast guard authorities from across the world. It offered a unique platform to discuss operational issues of common interest and to establish cooperation and enhance global interoperability. Discussions focused on the current border challenges in the context of various crises, conflicts and a fast-changing world, with the overarching theme “Contingency Planning for Emergencies at the Borders”. The event was also an opportunity for EUBAM Rafah to share an experience how a CSDP mission can support the current border challenges.
The EUBAM Head of Mission used the opportunity and held numerous side meetings with potential partners among participating EU Justice and Home Affairs agencies, EU Member States and regional partners to pave the way for possible future joint activities in the benefit of the General Administration for Border and Crossings. As a result, operational support was promised to the Mission by FRONTEX and several EU Member States.
