On June 26th, the Head of Mission of EUBAM Rafah, Florin Bulgariu, attended the official handover of additional technical equipment for the Command and Control Center of the General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) in Jericho. The project has been planned by the Mission’s Operations Department and successfully implemented in close cooperation with a Palestinian High-Tech Company. 22 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras have been installed at Al-Karamah Terminal in Jericho to enhance Palestinian Border Agencies capabilities of combating smuggling as well as providing additional safety for border agents and passengers.
The Command and Control Center became operational in January. The General Director of the GABC, Gov. Nazmi Mhanna, expressed his satisfaction with the installation of the new CCTV and thanked Mr. Bulgariu for EUBAM’s constant support. He also emphasized the importance of the Command and Control Center for the Palestinian Border Agencies in Jericho.
