Last week, a delegation of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) met with EUBAM Rafah and our counterpart, the General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) during a visit to the region.
The delegation visited GABC's premises in Jericho on Saturday to gain insights into the work of EUBAM Rafah and GABC in the field of border management and security, and to engage in discussions about current challenges and potential future scenarios. The General Director of the GABC, Governor Nazmi Mhanna, welcomed the Members of Parliament. He provided a tour of Al Karameh Terminal, as well as the Training Center and the Command and Control Center, both donated by EUBAM Rafah.
Furthermore, the SEDE delegation, together with representatives of EUBAM Rafah, EUPOL COPPS and other EU actors in the region, met with the PA Minister of Interior, the Attorney General, representatives of Palestinian Civil Society and further local interlocutors to discuss the current situation on the ground.
