Border officers trained to fight cross-border related frauds

The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) completed a two-day training programme for 20 senior officers from the Palestinian General Authority for Border and Crossings (GABC) and other border agencies.

On 26 and 27 June 2018, EUBAM Rafah organized a training aimed at building the capacities of GABC officers in order to enable them to undertake effective border control measures and to develop their knowledge on border-related fraud in addition to methods to detect attempted fraud. The training touched upon fraud prevention, fraud risk assessment and investigation techniques for cross-border related irregularities.

The participants also examined a number of practical cases related to commercial and tobacco fraud.

The training, held at the GABC Training Center, was conducted by two experts from OLAF and supported by Mission Members from EUBAM Rafah.

The experts also provided the participants with an overview of the mandate and competences of OLAF, its core activities and its cooperation with Member States and other international stakeholders on exchange of information in support of antifraud activities.
