On International Women’s Day, EUBAM Rafah reaffirms its commitment to the empowerment of women working under the umbrella of the General Administration for Borders and Crossings on all border-related matters including but not limited to leadership, decision-making and operations. This comes as part of the Mission’s efforts to promote gender equality and support women in their race for further social, economic and political achievements.
In all the activities it runs, EUBAM Rafah encourages and ensures an increased participation of women amid the growing level of recruitment of women for various roles in the field of Border Security and Customs.
On this day, Mr. Hakan Ershammar commented, “In my capacity as the Mission’s gender focal point, I send my best wishes for women across the world. International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to remind ourselves of where each of us stands in terms of the fight for gender equality and how far we have come along this long road, at the personal and professional levels.
In Eubam Rafah, we make sure to have these concepts reflected in the policies and practices of the Mission’s counterpart who always welcome trainings and capacity building initiatives that target women in the workforce. The Mission continues to work closely with GABC and stands side-by-side with it towards a comprehensive integration of gender parity in the different strategies and daily activities.”
