For the Duration of three days, EUBAM Rafah held its first “Leadership Development” workshop. The workshop, which started on April 1st, was the first of a series of three leadership trainings targeting top General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) managers.
Eight participants sat for the training that aimed at further developing the existing leadership skills of the top managers through tackling basic leadership topics including but not limited to; leadership vs. management, vision, theories and effective practice, decision making, managing change and delegation.
By the end of the workshop, all managers were capable of assessing their own managerial behaviors and leadership traits in addition to exploring ways to improve their styles in light of planned roleplays and exercises with the help of an international expert who arrived in Jericho for the purpose of delivering this training.
The workshop came as the outcome of a training needs assessment session held by EUBAM Head of Mission and GABC management in the previous mandate and in response to the needs of the Mission’s counterparts.
Iyad Salameh, Head of International Relations Department at GABC said “this workshop is a great opportunity for GABC managers to exchange knowledge and experiences and to employ their general interpersonal skills in the handling of daily life scenarios and in finding opportunities in difficult work situations. This workshop is important for our success as well as for our future and it encourages us to inspire others to follow the same path.”
