On the occasion of International Women’s Day, EUBAM Rafah HoM reaffirms the Mission’s commitment to supporting the General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) enhancement in the area of gender equality while managing the borders. EUBAM Rafah is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for Palestinian women, both in general, and specifically within GABC.
EUBAM Rafah ensures the implementation of the objectives outlined in the action plan defined by the United National Security Council Resolution 1325. Our focus is on three overarching and cross-cutting principles: participation, gender mainstreaming, and leading by example.
The Mission actively encourages women’s participation in all Mission activities, including trainings, workshops and study visits organized for GABC. The Mission is pleased to see a substantial increase in female participants engaging in Mission-related projects and activities.
The Mission promotes equal opportunities for female staff members in GABC and the agencies operating under its umbrella. A dedicated project aiming at enhancing GABC female staff members skills and leadership capabilities in order to be able to influence, persuade, empower and mentor is implemented by the Mission in its current Mandate.
EUBAM Rafah also leads by example by maintaining a balanced representation of women among its staff. Currently, women constitute 50% of our team.
We remain steadfast in the pursuit of gender equality and with the support of our counterpart, we are confident that Palestinian women will play a vital role in facilitating the movement of people across the terminal.
