Aimed at enhancing the Palestinian General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC) knowledge on cultural heritage and the European Union best practices, EUBAM Rafah facilitated a three-day information session on the “Protection of Cultural Heritage”. The training which took place between 20 and 24 October 2021 was organized by EUBAM Rafah and conducted by two trainers from the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage; known as Carabinieri T.P.C, in the framework of the Italian Training Mission MIADIT Palestine.

Aimed at enhancing skills on efficient border checks, the European Union Border Assistance Mission conducted a three day training on “X-Ray Imagery Interpretation”. The three day training held on 21-23 June 2021 at GABC Training Center in Jericho was the first training to be held following the strict measures enforced due to the pandemic.

On Tuesday, 22 June 2021 The Italian Consul General in Jerusalem Mr. Giuseppe Fedele together with Lieutenant Colonel Stefano Nencioni from the Italian Carabinieri, currently working as the liaison officer for “Missione Addestrativa Italiana” which translates as the Italian Training Mission visited the EUBAM Rafah Premises in Tel Aviv. 

On 9 March 2021, the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission Florin Bulgariu met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Ramallah Tarek Tayel. 

Florin Bulgariu, recently appointed Head of Mission at EUBAM Rafah, was present when the Mission was first deployed at the Rafah Crossing Point in Gaza in November 2005. Working as a border expert, he was part of the first group of Europeans posted to help with the process of building border capacity between Gaza and Egypt to facilitate free movement of people and goods across the border.

In order to support the Palestinian General Administration for Borders and Crossings during the global fight against COVID-19, as well the fight against infectious diseases more widely, the Head of the European Union border assistance Mission, EUBAM Rafah, Guenther Freisleben decided to reallocate existing funds at short notice in order to donate a portable rapid deployable thermal imaging fever system. 

In support of the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence", EUBAM Rafah has raised the voice to end violence against women. 

This comes as part of a campaign that started on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November and ends on Human Rights Day on 10 December. The campaign was originated by activists at the Women's Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and has continued ever since to be coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership. 

This week, the European Union Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point received members of the EU’s committee on Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management (CIVCOM) who arrived in Palestine and Israel to meet with Mission Staff members and local counterparts.

In continuation of an earlier workshop held in Jericho in April 2019, EUBAM Rafah concluded its second leadership development training. The workshop came as part of a series of leadership training sessions aimed at further developing the existing leadership skills and qualities of the top managers at the General Administration for Borders and Crossings and covered topics related to communication and conflict management.

On 24 July 2019, the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point met with the Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh in his office in Ramallah.

During the meeting, the Head of EUBAM Rafah reiterated the Mission's support for the General Administration for Borders and Crossings and expressed commitment to the building and strengthening of the counterpart's capacities.
